2010 can be noted as much for organizational adaptation
as for a year of ongoing challenges caused by a sluggish
economy and uncertainty about the future. Given this
context, most of our clients, looked to us to:
-
Provide meaningful supports to their
employees and managers who continue to face personal
and professional stressors;
-
Develop targeted interventions to help their
organization respond effectively to specific
organizational issues (e.g., supporting veterans
returning to work, encourage healthier behaviors and
lifestyles, especially as America prepares for new
healthcare legislation, help employees manage new
financial circumstances, etc.);
-
Offer the greatest value for their EAP dollars by providing more services and a higher level of service than ever before; and
-
Provide tools to HR so that they stay "on top of their
game" as they are expected to respond to critical
events, employee needs and organizational priorities.
For these reasons, now, more than ever, CFN's
distinctive commitment to exceptional client
responsiveness, flexibility, "high touch" services,
both to the individual callers as well as to our business
partners, has been just what our clients have needed
and why our business has continued to grow despite these
leaner times. In 2010, we continued to "raise the ante"
through innovation and service upgrades.
HR Trendspotters- We help our clients stay aware of major trends of interest to the HR community. Several times a year, we write a synopsis of recent research or respected thought on an issue. Our 2010 topic were:

Social Responsibility- in 2010, we held steadfast in our commitment to “give back” and support important causes, especially those that hold greatest meaning to members of our staff. Examples of our 2010 involvements include:
-
A Ray of Hope: On the Path to Cure Ovarian Cancer- Starring television star Ray Romano, this benefit concert was conceived by CFN’s CEO Linda John, an ovarian cancer survivor (and Ray's first cousin) after she went through treatment for the disease. The event was emceed by radio personality and CFN trainer, Valerie Smaldone. It was produced in association with the Sass Foundation for Medical Research, under the guidance of oncologist Dr. Frank Arena. All proceeds from the event and purchases through the online store were apportioned to Mt. Sinai and NYU Langone Medical Center for specific ovarian cancer research projects.
-
Pro Bono Services- CFN continues to offer free EAP services to Bottomless Closet, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping low-income women re-enter the workforce, as well as Bucks County Housing Group, a private, non-profit social service organization that provides a wide range of housing and related social services to homeless and low-income families.
-
Green Team- Several years ago, CFN’s staff launched a grassroots initiative to improve our carbon footprint. As a result, we have sustained positive workplace habits, including: paper reduction, expanded recycling, electricity conservation, and replacing bottled water with a water filtration system. This year, we added a focus on purchasing fair trade coffee for our staff pantry.
Also, noteworthy in 2010, in recognition of her many significant contributions and responsibilities at CFN, Barbara Reiss, a longtime veteran in the EAP field, was named President of CFN by Linda John, CFN’s Founder/CEO.
-
Inc. 5000- For the fourth consecutive year, CFN has been identified by Inc.com as one of the fastest growing companies in America.
-
Small Business Commerce Association (SBCA)- CFN was selected for the 2010 Best of Business Award in the employee programs administration category. SBCA identifies companies that demonstrated what makes small businesses a vital part of the American economy.
As we launched into the new year, 2011 is already shaping up to be a year of continued innovation. We look forward to sharing some of our unique technological developments that will enable us to reach even more people in ways that are convenient and impactful.
CFN’s 15th Anniversary: Finally, we want to share out excitement about our upcoming milestone occasion. On April 1, CFN will celebrate its 15th anniversary. We plan on paying tribute to all of our extraordinary clients who have encouraged us to continually evolve and have enabled us to become the outstanding nationwide provider of “high touch” EAP and Work Life services that we are.
